About Us

Hi! We're Abby's Assist, the family support and gifting branch of the Abby Meeske Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to supporting patients and families impacted by childhood leukemia.

Our name stems from Abby Meeske, whose desire to spread positivity and bring sunshine to everyone’s day is something we wish to invigorate in her honor. Abby's 14 years brought so much joy and friendship to everyone who met her.

In January of 2022, Abby was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a form of childhood cancer. While recovering between treatments, she developed an infection that her immune system could not overcome. Abby’s strength and resilience throughout her treatment was admirable. She was persistently positive and would talk regularly about goals she planned to conquer after treatment.

The purpose of Abby’s Assist is to emulate Abby’s values by brightening days, building relationships, and empowering the families facing challenges much like her own. For many such families, this challenge includes a significant financial component.  For example, many parents must work less in order to be with their child for ongoing, in-person treatment. Or, commute long distances to receive care. These are the families and situations at the center of our giving efforts. Simply put, our mission is to alleviate some of the emotional burden of families battling pediatric cancer by reducing the associated financial burden.
